Enid Lake - 11/16/2009

FISHING MISSISSIPPI
FALL SEASON

Water level 258.08, falling 0.1 ft/day, murky to clear. For water level information, call (662)563-4571 or check http://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/riverstage/bullet.txt The lake is falling slowly. Several ramps are underwater and/or you launch off the road or parking lot. Best luck for crappie has been trolling jigs and/or minnows 15 - 20 ft deep in creek mouths and the lower half of the main lake. Longbranch has been good. Fish worms or stink baits in the river or creeks for catfish. For largemouths, best luck has been flipping soft plastics into brushy cover in creek mouths. For bigger bass, fish similar cover on main lake points. The lake was 24.4 ft above rule curve Monday. See http://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/offices/ed/edh/plots/enidplot.jpg Fall drawdown has resumed with a target elevation of 230 ft by December 1. Expect high water releases this winter.

The spillway had one gate open 4.0 ft (1500 cfs) Monday. Best luck should be for channel catfish on standard baits.

The daily creel limit for crappie on Enid Lake is 20 per person. The minimum length limit for crappie is 12 inches. Anglers fishing Enid Lake may use no more than 5 poles per person. The 12 inch length limit does not apply to the reservoir spillway, but the spillway has a 20 crappie creel limit.
