Calling Panther Lake - 11/16/2009

Water temperature is less than 70 degrees, and water is clear.

BASS fishing is pretty good. Big fish are beginning to move back into shallow water. 13lbs 7oz is the current lake record for Calling Panther Lake.

BREAM are biting crickets in water over 6 feet deep. A lot of small bluegills caught. Try the gravel beds which are marked on the lake brochure.

CRAPPIE is good in deep water in open water and around drain structure on minnows. Most fish are about half a pound to three-fourths.

CATFISH are biting with some anglers reporting good sized fish. Coolcat worms are best bait.

Creel limits: Largemouth bass 30 fish/day, <20" Only 1 fish >20" Channel Catfish 10 fish/day Bream 100 fish/day Crappie 30 fish/day Skiing will be permitted on Wednesday and Sunday, noon to sunset. Directions to Calling Panther Lake: From I-55 South and Hwy. 27 in Crystal Springs, take a Left Go to Hwy 51 and turn Right Go 1.3 miles and turn Right at 4-way Stop (Georgetown Street) Georgetown Street becomes Utica Road after I-55 Go 1.1 miles and take a Left on New Zion Road Go 5.1 miles and take a Left on Gaddy Lane Go 1.8 miles and turn Left on Lake Entrance Road
