BAY SPRINGS:
Bass reports are fair. A few quality bass have been caught in shallow water in the backs of the coves. The larger coves with standing timber have been holding a few more bass. Best baits have been spinnerbaits, suspending jerkbaits, and T-rigged plastics. Other bass anglers are hitting either mainlake points or secondary points and using Carolina-rigged plastics. Best depths have been 7-12 ft. The crappie reports are fair. Target sunken brushtops in 12-18 feet of water with crappie jigs. Popular areas for crappie right now are the mouths of McDougal Branch and Jackson Camp. The catfish reports are fair with a few folks continuing to jug fish and use rod-n-reels in the canal between Bay Springs and Pickwick. Livers, nightcrawlers, and cut-bait are all producing.
