Simpson County Lake - 11/9/2009

BASS fishing is best early and late on plastics. Fish water 8-10 feet deep for midrange bass. Big bass remain deep, but there are a lot of fish 10 pounds and up in this lake.

BREAM are beginning to pick up with cooler water. Fish on boat ramp side of the large tee shaped pier near the camping area entrance. A local angler was catching two pound redear off the small tee pier near the pavilion this week.

CRAPPIE fishermen are using minnows along the levee in a boat. Catch rates are getting better with the cooler temperatures.

CATFISH bite is pretty good at night. Lots of fish were left from the rodeo. Simpson has really made a name for itself with catfish over the last few years.

Camping is available for overnight stays. No reservations needed.

A depth/bottom map is available showing locations of fish attractors and other lake features. The link to our lake map page is:

Several fish attractors have been established in the lake to create fish habitat and a hot spot for anglers. Approximately 150 Christmas trees were added in January the fish attractor bouys. They will provide great habitat for all species of fish. These attractors have been marked with buoys for anglers to easily find and are loaded down with Christmas trees.

GPS coordinates for the fish attractors are:
