Lake Lowndes - 11/16/2009

LAKE LOWNDES STATE PARK: Water temps are now in the upper 60s due to the recent warm weather this past week. Crappie anglers are reporting a good bite in deeper water around sunken tree-tops. Three quarter pound crappie have been preferring jigs over minnows this week. The bass anglers are fishing near these same areas with t-rigged plastics with fair success. Other bass anglers are hitting the upper end of the lake with rattletraps and spinnerbaits. Good numbers of bass are being caught, but not very many bass over 3 lbs have been reported. The only bream reports are coming from the bank anglers who are throwing beetlespins or tight-lining nightcrawlers in 4 to 8 feet of water.
