Pascagoula River - 11/17/2009
Pascagoula River:
The river at Merrill is 5.91 ft. and falling while the lower river @ Graham Ferry is 7.96 ft. and falling. The big rise last week from the tropical storm is beginning to fall which should bring more anglers back to the river. There were a few reports recently of some bream being caught in the oxbows using crickets & redworms as well as a few catfish being caught on trotlines using soap & cutbait with the rising water levels. Bass anglers reported a few fish being caught using soft plastics and spinnerbaits in the lower river and in the oxbows.
NOTE: MDWFP completed the final phase of advanced-size largemouth bass stocking in the Pascagoula River on Friday, Oct. 16. The stocking has been very successful and MDWFP thanks all those who participated including MS Power, MDWFP Foundation, MDWFP hatchery staff, and a big THANK YOU to all the local bass clubs that volunteered their time & boats to assist in the stocking - THANK YOU!
Please note that a new minimum length limit is in effect for black bass (this includes largemouth bass & spotted bass) in the Pascagoula River and adjoining oxbows, from Merrill to the Highway 90 bridge. Only bass over 12 inches may be in possession on these waters with a creel limit of 10 black bass per day.
