FALL SEASON
Water level 266.89, falling 0.1 ft/day, murky to clear. For water level information, call
(662)563-4531 or check http://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/riverstage/bullet.txt The lake is falling
slowly. Long's Sporting Goods and Quick Stop (662)487-2187 reports crappie have been biting
lately slow trolling minnows 25 to 35 ft deep in the main lake. A few folks have managed to take
limits. Some crappie can also be taken jigging standing timber. Largemouths were being taken
around shallow cover on a variety of baits with good luck on flooded road beds. Fish worms or
stink baits in the river or creeks for catfish. The lake was 26.9 ft above rule curve Monday. See
http://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/offices/ed/edh/plots/sardplot.jpg. Fall drawdown has resumed
with a target elevation of 236 ft December 1. Expect high water releases this winter.
The spillway had 2 gates open 6.0 ft each (3100 cfs) Monday. There have been few
reports from the spillway, but should improve with more water being let out. Best luck should be
for catfish with various baits.
On Sardis Lake the daily creel limit for
crappie is 20 per person. The minimum length limit for crappie is 12 inches.
Anglers fishing Sardis Lake may use no more than 5 poles
per person. The 12 inch length limit does not apply to the reservoir spillway, but the
spillway, including Sardis Lower Lake, has a 20 crappie creel limit.
