Roosevelt State Park conveniently located between Meridian and Jackson, Mississippi.  Roosevelt State Park offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities in a picturesque setting. The park's scenic overlook provides a panoramic view of the Bienville National Forest. The gently sloping landscape is particularly striking during the fall when the forest is bright with autumn colors.

Developed Camping
109 sites are available for RV camping which features picnic tables and grills. 27 sites include electricity and water hook-ups.  82 sites have electricity, water, and sewer hook-ups. All of the RV pads are within easy access of a central sewage dumping station and a bathhouse with hot showers.

Tent Camping
A wooded area on the upper end of Shadow Lake is available for tent camping. Water is available in the area as well as bathhouses featuring hot showers are located just across the dam from the primitive camping area.

Vacation Cabins
Roosevelt features 15 cabins with beautiful views of Shadow Lake.   Cabin #12 is handicap accessible.  Each cabin is furnished with bed and bath linens, TV and basic kitchen equipment.  All cabins are air-conditioned and heated, features screened-in porches, and accommodate four to twelve people.   All have stunning views with manageable pricing. Reservations are required and can be acquired by calling the park office at (601) 732-6316 or online.

Group Camp
Group camping for up to 128 is offered in eight air-conditioned and heated, dormitory style cabins.  Each of the eight cabins accommodates 16 people per cabin. The group camp features a separate dining room, meeting room, and a lakeside pavilion. Meals are served cafeteria-style in the dining hall. Campers must furnish their own linens, towels, pillow, soap, and other personal items.  Reservations are required and can be acquired by calling the park office at (601) 732-6316 or online.

   


Pool/Water Slide

Swimming Pool and Water Slide is open for 2 sessions per day. Session 1 begins at 9:30 am and ends at 12:15 pm.  Session 2 begins at 1:30 pm and ends at 5:15 pm. A fee is charged per session for the use of the swimming pool/water slide.  It is open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

  

Visitor/Activity Building
The Visitor's Center houses the park office, a video game room, and a souvenir shop featuring a variety of Mississippi gift items. The Visitor's Center has rooms suitable for business conferences, public meetings, and group gatherings.  It also has a dining hall available for family reunions, banquets, and receptions. Complete facilities for gatherings of up to 250 people.  In addition, Roosevelt has a catering service available.  Please contact the park office at (601) 732-6316 for specific information on facilities, seating capacity, and costs.

     

 

Picnic Area/Shelter
20 picnic sites complete with grills are located throughout the park and many have affording beautiful lakeside views. Five covered pavilions  ( #2 is handicap accessible) with electrical outlets may be reserved for a fee; therefore, providing the ideal spot for family reunions, company picnics, and school or church outings.

 

 

Nature Trail
Nature trails wind through the park. You can experience Hollow Hill, Lakeview, Muscadine, or Beaver Nature Trail.  The trail lets you have an unobstructed view of native trees, flowers and wildlife.

Playing Fields

Roosevelt features a lighted softball field available by reservation.


Tennis
Guests may use two lighted tennis courts for day or night play.  A fee is charged.

Boat Launching
Shadow Lake offers 160 acres of fresh water for water sports and fishing.

Water skiing
Shadow Lake offers 160 acres of fresh water for skiing. Water skiing is permitted Memorial Day weekend - Labor Day weekend.

Fishing
Shadow Lake offers 160 acres of fresh water for fishing year round. The lake is stocked with bass, crappie, bream, and catfish.  A Mississippi fishing license is required for all people between the ages of 16 and 65.  License may be purchased at the park office for a nominal fee.

Laundry Facilities

Laundry facilities are available in each campground.

Motel Rooms
Roosevelt features a 20 unit Motel Lodge with unit #110 is handicap accessible. Each unit is furnished with bed and bath linens, basic kitchen equipment (kitchenette), TV and telephone.  Queen beds and lake view rooms are available.  Contact the park office at (601) 732-6316 for reservations or go online.

 

Day Use
A day-use entry fee is charged on a per vehicle basis.
