Situated inside the Mississippi River levee and bordered by the majestic river on its western edge, Great River Road State Park offers magnificent views of the ‘Father of Waters’ from a setting unmatched in natural beauty. The focal point of the park is a 75-foot high overlook tower, which provides panoramic views of the Mississippi River as well as being the ideal spot for a picnic. The park is named for the Great River Road, a scenic parkway that follows the Mississippi from its beginning as a small Canadian creek to its end at the Gulf of Mexico

Winterville Mounds Park (30 miles) The site of one of the tallest Indian Mounds and the largest group of mounds in the Mississippi Valley. The mound builders occupied this village from 800 to 1000 A.D.

Lake Charlie Capps (23 miles) Lake Charlie Capps is visible close-up from Hwy 1, south of the park. It was formed by a natural cutoff of the river in 1920. It features an exceptional view of cypress trees. Deer Creek at Scott is one of the most photographed spots in the state.

Cleveland (15 miles) Cleveland's Octoberfest, Crosstie Festival Arts Show, and several interesting trade expositions are outstanding events. Delta State University's Performing Arts Center hosts entertaining shows on a frequent schedule.

Developed Camping
The 61 sites available for RV / tenting camping feature picnic tables, grills, and electrical and water hook-ups. A bathhouse with hot showers and laundry facilities and a central sewage dumping station are located in the developed camping area. A limited number of campsites are set aside for advance reservations. The remainder are filled on a first-come, first-served basis

The banquet room accommodates 90 people and catering service is available. A broad balcony, spanning the font of the Visitor's Center and overlooking the Mississippi River, features concession stand, and a banquet room.

Picnic Area/Shelter
Great River Road's 28 picnic sites are equipped with tables and grills, and afford views of the majestic Mississippi River. A picnic shelter atop the 75-foot high overlook tower provides a panoramic view of the Mississippi River, and is available by reservation.
Nature Trail
Nature trails show the plants and animals of the bottomland hardwood forest and swamp. Several trails lead to the sandbar, which at low water form one of the largest beaches in the state. The sandbars are visited by a variety of birds and animals, some of which you may see, others will leave their interesting tracks.
Playground
A playground area is also available at the Park.
Playing Fields
A site for softball and other outdoor recreational activities is available.
Boat Launching
Perry Martin Lake, a 30-acre oxbow lake of the Mississippi River, yields catches of bass, white perch, and catfish. A boat launch is available.
Fishing
Perry Martin Lake, a 30-acre oxbow of the Mississippi River, yields catches of bass, white perch, and catfish. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. Licenses may be purchased from the park office for a nominal fee. A boat launch is provided for those who wish to bring their own boats. No jet boats are allowed on Perry Martin Lake.

Laundry facilities are available at the Park.
Disc Golf
Deer Meadow is an 18 Hole Disc Golf Course. It is located in the bottomland Riverain Forest along the mighty Mississippi. Commonly seen Whitetail deer make play enjoyable. Disc course is open to the public, free of charge, however, the normal entrance fee is required. Disc can be rented or purchased from the park office. Southern National Disc Golf Association
Day Use
A day use entry fee is charged on a per vehicle basis.
