Perched on a rocky bluff overlooking the Tennessee River, J.P. Coleman State Park offers the finest in all types of water sports. Visitors experience unmatched sailing, swimming, skiing, and fishing for Smallmouth bass in the sparkling waters of Pickwick Lake, and enjoy camping and exploring in the untamed wilderness along the banks of the Tennessee River.

Area Attractions
The following attractions are located within a short drive of J.P. Coleman State Park. The park staff will be happy to provide you with directions.


Developed Camping
The 69 sites available for RV camping feature picnic tables, grills, electrical and water hook-ups, and sewage hookups, and bathhouse with restrooms along with hot showers.

All sites are available for advance reservations and can be reserved up to 24 months in advance.


Tent Camping
J.P. Coleman offers 17 tent camping sites overlooking Indian Creek. Each site is equipped with picnic table, grill and water. Hot showers are within walking distance.

Vacation Cabins
J.P. Coleman features 20 vacation cabins furnished with bed and bath linens as well as basic kitchen equipment. Cabins offer a view of Indian Creek. All cabins are air conditioned and heated. Some have screened porches. Four units have fireplaces with gas log inserts.

Cabins accommodate up to four people. Reservations are strongly recommended and are accepted up to 24 months in advance.

Pool
The park features a 15 x 60 foot swimming pool and a kiddy pool. A fee is charged. Pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day 10:00 A.M to 6:00 P.M.  The pool is closed Monday and Tuesday of each week, unless a holiday falls on one of these days.

Visitor/Activity Building
Meeting rooms accommodating up to 150 are located in the convention center. Catering is available. Contact the park office for specific information on facilities and costs (662) 423-6515.  

Picnic Area/Shelter
Picnic Pavilion may be reserved for a small fee.

Miniature Golf
A miniature golf course is open seasonally and is available to groups by reservation year round. A fee is charged.

Boat Launching
Pickwick Lake offers 47,500 acres of freshwater for fishing and other water sports. A boat launch is available for persons with their own boats.

Fishing
Pickwick Lake offers 47,500 acres of fresh water for fishing and water sports. The lake is brimming with crappie, bream, catfish, sauger, walleye, and most species of bass. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. Water skiing is permitted, and a boat launching ramp is available.

 Laundry Facilities
Laundry facilities are available in the campground area.

Motel Rooms
The motel features three luxurious townhouses and sixteen motel rooms, two of which are handicap accessible. All rooms are equipped with kitchen facilities and offer a view of the majestic Tennessee River. Reservations are recommended and are accepted up to 24 months in advance.

Day Use
A day use entry fee is charged on a per vehicle basis.
