Catfish Lecture to be Presented at Fish Hatchery
August is designated as National Catfish Month so what better time to learn more about one of Mississippi’s favorite fish.
Hooray for the Catfish! will be presented by Jason Olive of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks on Saturday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the event room at the Visitor Education Center of the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery.
Olive, the Northeast Mississippi Fisheries Bureau Project Manager, is based at the District 1 office in Tupelo and covers 16 counties in Northeast Mississippi.
A native of Florence, Alabama, Olive attended college at Mississippi State University where he received his Masters Degree in Fisheries Management. He is Mississippi’s representative on the Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society’s Catfish Management Technical Committee, and is currently serving as chair-elect of that committee.
He is also serving on the planning committee for the second International Catfish Symposium, which will be held in St. Louis, MO in June 2010.
